Poetess and video artist Miriam Reyes at the Niemeyer Centre’s “Ciclo Palabra e imagen”

Miriam Reyes (Ourense, 1974), poetess and video artist, will be the protagonist of the next “Palabra e imagen” event, the new format of the “Ciclo Palabra” which includes intermedial and transmedia experiences that extend the boundaries of literature and poetry.

The activity, which will be introduced by Reyes on Tuesday 12th April at 8 p.m., is entitled Aquí estoy and it is a recital video where the starting point are poems from her last book, Haz lo que te digo, published in 2015. In this book, the author presents a journey full of questions through the various communication stages in a love relationship.

Along with the poems of her book, in Aquí estoy Reyes will use music and videos in order to turn the activity into another form of writing her poems, creating a different artefact directly related to the body and voice on stage.

Miriam Reyes studied Arts at the Central University of Venezuela and she graduated in Hispanic Philology at the University of Barcelona. She has published the following books of poetry: Espejo negro (DVD, 2001), Bella durmiente (Hiperion, 2005), Desalojos (Hiperion, 2008), Haz lo que te digo (Bartleby, 2015) and Prensado en frío (Malasangre, 2016). Since 2001, she has experimented with audiovisual writing and multimedia recital. She has participated in poetry festivals, polypoetry, spoken word and performing arts such as “Yuxtaposiciones, Palabra y Música”, “BAD Bilbao” or “Cosmopoética” with her recital videos. She has also presented her work at festivals and meetings in Argentina, Mexico, Austria, Portugal, China and Morocco.
